Technorati Falling 9 comments

I like Techorati and I suppose that someday it might be useful again. Perhaps after everyone else stops using it because of persistently receiving error messages like:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.technorati.com/search/real url removed/
The following error was encountered:
* Zero Sized Reply
Squid did not receive any data for this request.

Or the frequent “We are experiencing a heavy load please try again later” messages, the reported links randomly changing from query to query, or it not showing all of your recent links, taking forever to get to the 2nd page of links and ….
I really do like Technorati…

No kidding. Come on Technorati folks, you’re better than this. We can’t search the world live web with a smushed squid.

You get to the second page? I get an error message afer what seems an eternity, every time, every browser. And the first page has been cut down to just a few links. Not very useful.

I had one good experience late last night.
A few minutes ago it brought the info for Modulator up in just a few seconds (ignore the fact that the links/site information hasn’t changed in 3-4 weeks).
When I clicked on the link to see the rest of the linking sites….just like magic,…the same message quoted in the main post.

I usually get a message on the second page that there are no more links.
Is there any viable alternative to Technorati?

For whatever reason, Technorati doesn’t even index my posts anymore – not by text string *or* by tags / categories. Also, whenever I do a search on my URL, all I get is (after a 1 minute wait) the Zero Sized Reply crap.
Their service is quickly becoming junk.

Technorati was losing it even before the conversion to their new format, but now I don’t even bother using them. Few results (if any) and getting to Page 2 and onward is impossible. Search by authority? Fahgeddaboudit.
Unfortunately, the “old” Technorati was the best blog link indexer around…now I’m back to checking referrer stats.
I hope they fix it. I sent ’em an e-mail, griping, but who knows if they actually read those things?
