War on Drugs

Secret Law is No Law at All

There was some excitement in my twitter feed this morning regarding an opinion from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) that instructed the White House to declassify some of its opinions:

In an opinion from the FISC itself, Judge F. Dennis Saylor on Friday told the White House to declassify all the legal opinions relating to Section 215 of the Patriot Act written after May 2011 that aren’t already the subject of FOIA litigation.

I am all for declassifying this material but this misses the key issue entirely.

In a free land there is no such thing as a FISC! No secret courts, no secret proceedings, no star chambers.

Secret law is no law at all.

Lets End the Medical Marijuana Raids

Reason.tv asks:

Should medical marijuana be kept from minors at all costs?

We should also ask:

Should Sheriff Pat Hedges, the local deputies and the federal thugs who accompanied them on the raid of Charley Lynch’s medical marijuana dispensary be arrested and tried for crimes against humanity?

If the entrenched legislative bodies and criminal justice system will not properly deal with these perps then it is time to create a replacement system.

Why Expand A Failed War?

Some of the folks who make their living off the immoral and failed war on drugs want to add yet another to the list of illegal substances:

The DEA is monitoring salvia to decide whether it should be regulated or banned outright, and a California assemblyman introduced legislation to outlaw it after law enforcement agencies in Southern California reported increased use. The legislation was voted down in committee in March, but Assemblyman Anthony Adams, R-Hesperia (San Bernardino County), has pledged to bring it up again next year.
“It’s kind of terrifying that we are actively allowing commerce of a drug that has LSD-like qualities,” Adams said. “Use of it is only going to get worse. There is no way this drug is going to get less popular.”

What is terrifying is that this guy wants to expand the government’s terroristic war against its own citizens, the people it is supposed to serve.
