Cats, Dogs, Spiders and ? every Friday.
I’ll post links to sites that have Friday (plus or minus a few days) photos of their chosen animals as I see them (no photoshops and no humans).
Leave a comment or trackback to this post or email me and I’ll add yours to the list. Check back regularly for updates throughout the day on Fridays and somewhat less frequently over the weekend.
Dog folks: remember to submit your links to the Carnival of the Dogs hosted by Mickey’s Musings.
Cat folks: remember to submit your links to the Carnival of the Cats which goes up every Sunday and will be hosted this week by maximum stacy.
And, check out Laurence’s fine graphical analysis of Friday Ark boardings.
Archive editions of the Friday Ark.
Update: While Laurence worries about our dog owning friends overtaking the felines there is a brewing uprising:
Liberate the Friday Ark from the shackles of mammalocentric oppression!

During “Law and Order: Piss in the Jury Pool” I noticed Nardo pawing at a feather on the bookshelves. I grabbed the feather-on-a-stick from the porch that I normally use to tease him through the monkey grass and played on…
Friday Spring Watch and Animal Blogging
I’m not a transcendentalist, per se, but I do have a lot of admiration for Emerson and Thoreau. And, I find it helpful sometimes to emulate people who have earned admiration. So, hoping that Dan Harp’s season watches will help…
Friday Cat Blogging MIA
My apologies, but things got very hectic this week and I forgot to take a new cat picture. You can still find lots of cats and other animals at the Friday Ark, though, to tide you over. And thi…

My parents were very generous when it came to the pets they let their children keep. We were not only allowed to have dogs and cats, but lizards, horned toads, snakes, hamsters, chipmunks, doves, crows, and even a red-tailed hawk….

Callie, Queen of the Veranda. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
Peaceful Coexistence
Here you see me together in peaceful coexistence with the Other Cat. The Other Cat used to hiss at me all the time (probably because she was threatened by my awesome masculinity), but since the Interloper came to live here…

Discrimination and bias by webloggers
I really must protest. As you may know, The Modulator tallies up references to organisms in weblogs every week. He has several categories: Cats, Dogs, Birds, Other Vertebrates, Invertebrates, and Didn't Make It. Take a look at that list: 6 categor…

Mira,
Humans are ok as long as they are in a supporting role, e.g., a body under a sleeping pet, a groomer, etc.
What I will avoid are posts that picture only a human.

Only a fraction of all the species that ever existed on Earth are still alive today – most have gone extinct over billions of years. Why are extinct species discriminated against?
Do potatoes count, or is there discrimination against everything that is not an animal:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/the_walloper/9323.html
Yep, for this Ark I’m pretty much discriminating against everything that is not an animal…
And, would love to have more boarders from the extinct species…
